The European One Health Association (EOHA) Annual Scientific Meeting was held in Madrid from 18-20 May 2026 at the CSIC Headquarters. The conference was organized by the Animal Health Research Center (CISA-INIA, CSIC) with Dr. Jovita Fernández Pinero –member of the OHS animal virology coordination team- playing a leading role in the organizing committee.

The meeting brought together researchers, policymakers, public health professionals, veterinarians, environmental scientists and other stakeholders to foster collaboration across the human–animal–environment interface.

The scientific programme focused on four major themes: Environmental Sciences and Ecology in One Health, Frontiers of One Health Research, Innovative Solutions and Implementation, and Science for Policy and Society.

The OneHealthSecure project was well represented, with one oral presentation and two posters:

  • OneHealthSecure project: multisectoral cooperation for sustainable vector-borne disease prevention and response in the Mediterranean, Black Sea and Sahel regions (oral presentation by M.A. Jiménez-Clavero)
  • Enhancing diagnostic capacities for Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever virus: results of an external quality assessment in veterinary laboratories (poster)
  • Strengthening laboratory diagnostic capacities in the Mediterranean region to reinforce surveillance of zoonotic arboviruses through a One Health collaborative action (poster)

The meeting provided an excellent opportunity to disseminate the project's main achievements and engage with leading One Health experts from across Europe and beyond, fostering discussions and strengthening collaborations within the international One Health community.
