LEAD26 – 25th Lebanese Epidemiological Association annual conference
On the 12th and 13th of June, the Lebanese Epidemiological Association organized its 25th annual conference, LEAD26, in Beirut, under the theme “One Health: Public Health Challenges in Lebanon and Beyond”. The opening was attended by representatives of Lebanese ministries, as well as delegates from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) Regional Offices.
The WOAH Regional Director presented the One Health Plan of Action in the Middle East Region to Support Multisectoral Collaboration on Zoonotic Diseases. He highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts across the human, animal, and environmental health sectors to strengthen regional preparedness, surveillance, and response to zoonotic diseases.
The scientific program focused on emerging infectious diseases, with special attention given to the Hemorrhagic fever and West Nile virus, which were presented by focal points and partners of the OneHealthSecure network, as well as diseases prevention and control strategies. The conference reaffirmed the importance of regional partnerships and multidisciplinary collaboration in strengthening health security and addressing current and future public health threats.
