One Health Secure project was present at the II Conference of the Spanish One Health Platform

Elisa Pérez Ramírez and Pilar Aguilera, part of the coordination team of the animal virology network of the Project, participated in the II Conference of the Spanish One Health Platform, held in Madrid from 28 to 30th May.
The main objective of this event was to advocate for the importance of scientific and technical knowledge as a cornerstone for formulating public policies that respond to the complex sanitary challenges that we are facing. This is especially relevant in a context where the rise of misinformation is jeopardizing the implementation of policies aimed at improving the health and well-being of citizens. By bringing together political decision-makers, regional and national government representatives, the private sector, researchers and representatives of civil society in a single space, this conference has fostered very fruitful multisectoral synergies and has opened the ground for new projects that promote a more holistic approach to health threats.
The Conference was held in the Medicine Faculty of Autonomous University of Madrid, although the last day, the sessions took place at the Spanish Congress of Deputies with participation of politicians from the main national political parties.
Elisa and Pilar presented two posters to summarize the main achievements of the 10 years of MediLabSecure and to present the new OneHealthSecure project (structure, objectives, etc.):
- MediLabSecure: ten years of a One Health initiative to improve preparedness and response to vector-borne diseases in the Mediterranean, Black Sea and Sahel regions
- Facing emerging vector-borne diseases in EU-neighbouring countries: the OneHealthSecure project.
