Participation in the “13th International Congress for Veterinary Virology”

The OneHealthSecure project was represented at the 13th International Congress of Veterinary Virology (ESVV) by Jovita Fernandez, an expert in animal virology from 2 to 5 September 2025 in Slovenia.

She presented a poster entitled : “Viral metagenomics in diagnosis: an external quality assessment on e-lab skills for laboratories of the Mediterranean, Balkans, Black Sea and Sahel regions”. It describes the results of the EQA on virus metagenomics that was organized as an activity of the Animal and Human Virology sectors within the former Medilabsecure project. This was the first EQA exercise aimed at evaluating metagenomics competences for diagnosing viral pathogens. 

Further, OneHealthSecure project will strengthen capacity building in this field by offering an updated training program on genomic surveillance and data analysis for the different sectors involved in virus detection, including environmental scientists.
