Participation in the CSIC Global Health Intersectoral Platform Conference
On October 20th & 21st, Elisa Pérez Ramírez, from the Animal Health Research Center (INIA-CSIC) delivered an oral presentation entitled “Strengthening surveillance of Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic fever virus: evaluation of diagnostic capacities in veterinary laboratories from 18 EU-neighboring countries”.
In this presentation she summarized the results of the CCHFV external quality assessment (EQA) carried out during the last phase of MediLabSecure project. The results of this EQA were highly satisfactory and demonstrated that the training activities performed during the project were successful to improve the CCHFV diagnostic capacities of the beneficiary labs.
More than 190 Spanish researchers participated in this conference; all of them involved in different global health challenges such as vector borne diseases, antibiotic resistance, zoonotic influenza viruses, poxviruses, impact of climate change on infectious diseases, etc.
The conference was organized by the CSIC Global Health Intersectoral Platform. This platform was created in 2020 to face COVID-19 pandemic, but 5 years later the platform has expanded its initial objective to prevent, detect and respond to sanitary threats caused by any infectious disease.
