Webinar on Innovative Vector Control Tools
On September 28, 2026, a webinar on ‘Innovative Vector Control Tools’ was proposed to the OneHealthSecure network attende by 26 participants from 15 countries.
It covered two innovative vector control methods: the Sterile Insect Technique and the Wolbachia method, providing insights into their concepts and practical application in different countries.
These techniques present new biological approaches to vector control and are explored as part of vector control strategies. They aim to provide a complementary approach to traditional vector control measures, taking into account rising insecticide resistance. The speakers, namely, Jérémy Bouyer (Cirad, France) and Igor Pajovic (University of Montenegro), Nadège Rossi (World Mosquito Program) and Gabriel Sylvestre Ribeiro (Wolbito do Brasil), underlined the importance of communication and community engagement, as well as the involvement of local and national authorities, for the successful implementation of both methods.
